From Our Senior Warden: St. Andrew’s Vestry News
February 21, 2019
Uncategorized
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
(
Proverbs 3:5-6)
Happy Birthday St. Andrew’s!
It is hard to believe that our Parish is 100 years old this year. As I begin my last year as Senior Warden, I am excited to see the path that God has planned for us. With God’s guidance and grace, this is the beginning of our next 100 years!
Outgoing Vestry Members:
Many thanks to Carter Ficklen; Merrill Hemmert; Junior Warden, Danny Switzer; and Elise Wall for their years of service.
New Vestry Members:
Welcome Tonia Graves, Steve Howell, Betsy Jones, and Allie Wittkamp. We thank them for wanting to get involved.
Abundant Blessings Campaign:
Thanks again to Randy and Susan Bryant for leading our stewardship campaign for 2018. The Bryants along with Saint Lee, Virginia Darden, Mary Waddill, and Bill Wilds did a wonderful job of planning and implementing a very successful campaign. With the efforts of this team and the
Abundant Blessings
of our parishioners, we ended 2018 in very good financial shape. Detailed financial reports are posted on the bulletin board outside of the Parish Hall.
Discernment Process:
Our Discernment process is going well and I want to thank the members of the congregation and the community for their attendance. We have learned a great deal about the needs in our community. Some of our parishioners took a tour of the former school space. For most, it was their first time in that area of the parish. A committee is now in place to review the congregation’s thoughts on how we should use this space. I am looking forward to hearing their thoughts and suggestions.
100
th
Anniversary Celebrations:
Be on the lookout, in your bulletin and the E-News, for more events to help us celebrate our 100
th
year
.
Recent Vestry Actions:
Our 2019 budget was approved in January and we have completed the sale of the parish’s rental house at 300 River Rd. After our long-term tenant moved out the vestry decided it was time to sell. Although it was basically breakeven for our parish, to make it ready for the next renter a lot of upgrades would have been needed, including adding in central air.
